Shepherd SGA Unveils Plans for West Campus Multipurpose Building

In a Student Government Association (SGA) meeting in March, student senators outlined blueprints and concept designs for the proposed dining hall/ multipurpose that will be built on Shepherd University’s West Campus.

The building will house meeting rooms, locker rooms, training and treatment rooms, offices, and a state-of-the-art weight room that will accommodate the athletic department, according to the blueprints provided (see below). Along with this, the building will feature a new dining hall to offer more dining options to students living on campus.

According to Executive Director of University Communications Hans Fogle, moving forward with the construction of the new dining hall/ multipurpose building aligns with Shepherd’s “strategic plan” to give students on west campus more dining options and to meet the needs of student athletes.

Rams Den, which has served as Shepherd’s primary dining location for over 50 years, will remain open as a dining option for students and employees after the opening of the dining hall/ multipurpose building.

“I think it’s nice that Shepherd is investing more in dining and students’ life,” said junior student Curry Taylor, “it’s going to be more accessible for students to grab a meal by having full dining option on West Campus due to Riverside’s limited availability and options.”

As demolition continues and construction soon begins, Fogle stated that a website will soon be created to highlight and keep students and faculty up to date on the improvement projects underway across campus.
