Rams Volleyball Falls in Tournament

The Shepherd University Volleyball team was able to win their opening match in the Mountain East Conference Tournament, but would fall to Fairmont State in the tournament’s semi-finals.

The Lady Rams won their first round match against the University of Charleston by the score of 3-0. Senior Valerie Bour had a game-high 13 kills, while freshman Kayleigh Helgesen had nine and senior Kayla Motheral recorded eight. Senior Lauren Wilkins led the Lady Rams with 11 digs.

Shepherd would fall 3-1 to Fairmont State on the next night. Kayleigh Helgesen led the team with 16 kills with Valerie Bour adding 12. Freshman Kelsey Anderson had a game-high 24 digs. Kaitlyn Witsaman led the Lady Falcons with 15 kills.

The Lady Rams initially won their regular season match against Fairmont State back on Sept. 30. The score of that game was 3-2.

Wheeling Jesuit University would go on to win the MEC Tournament. They topped Fairmont State 3-0.

The Lady Rams finish the season with a record of 18-13. They improved upon their record from last season, where they finished 15-17.
