Lady Rams fall to Lock Haven 2-1 in final home game of the season

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va., – Lock Haven University defeated Shepherd University 2-1 Wednesday in what was the Lady Rams’ final home game of the season.

After a 1-1 score at the break, Lock Haven found more success on offense in a rainy second half, outshooting Shepherd 10-3.

In the 73rd minute, the Bald Eagles took the lead on a goal by Marah Foltz. The goal came after the ball was stolen from Sara Hohn on what Shepherd fans thought warranted a tripping call.

Shepherd fans and players were both unhappy with the officiating crew.

“It was kind of unfortunate we had not the best ref,” Emma Bernardoni said. “We couldn’t get a good flow of possession going with the constant stopping for fouls that weren’t fouls.”

Bernardoni scored Shepherd’s only goal of the game 30 minutes into the first half. The goal put the Rams up 1-0. This was her second goal of the season.

Lock Haven’s Haleigh Swam would net the equalizer just before half. The goal was assisted by Taylor Moritz.

Shepherd will travel to Millersville University for their next game which will be Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

Lock Haven’s next game will be at home on Saturday against #23 East Stroudsburg.
