Shepherdstown BooFest to return for third year

(THE PICKET)— Shepherdstown’s annual Boo Fest started taking place this year on Oct. 23, and it won’t end until Oct. 31.

For the Halloween festival’s third year, there will be plenty of events for all ages to attend.

Jan Hafer, co-director of the Shepherdstown Visitor’s Center, said, “People really love Halloween around here, so for the community to have something like this is great.”

Some of the events include carriage rides, mystery tours and costume parades. Trick-or-Treat, which takes place on Oct. 31, will involve several of the town shops handing out candy.

“It’s gotten so big that last year the police shut down German Street for just the trick-or-treat portion of the event,” Hafer said.

According to Hafer, Shepherd University students are urged to partake in the events.

“This event is for all ages, from toddlers and way beyond. The whole town really gets into it, and it’s something to enjoy,” Hafer said.
