Shepherd volleyball falls in semifinals

(THE PICKET)—Shepherd fell to the 12th-ranked Wheeling Jesuit in three sets in the semifinal round of the MEC Volleyball Tournament at Wheeling Jesuit on Thursday night. The Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals gained a 25-10, 25-13, 25-13 victory.

Fifth-seeded Rams completed their season at 16-17.

Junior outside hitter/right side Grace Simmons had eight kills, while senior outside hitter Taylor Allen added seven for the Rams.

Sophomore libero/defensive specialist Kelsey Anderson recorded nine digs, while Allen and senior outside hitter/libero Samantha Scroggins each had five.

Freshmen setter Cyera Dixon added 21 assists for the Rams.

Rams ended their season with two players, Scroggins, and freshman middle blocker Sophie Foster both named to the 2015 All-MEC team.

Scroggins, a first team selection, has recorded a team-best 294 kills with 40 aces and 13 assists. Her 282 digs are second on the team. She also has added 38 blocks (8 solo).

Foster, a second team choice and a member of the All-Freshman Team, has posted 124 kills with a .238 attack percentage. She is second on the team with 56 blocks (nine solo) and adds 21 digs and four assists.
