The Shepherd men’s basketball team fell hard at home to the Fairmont University Falcons in their final regular season game of the 2015-16 season 73-54.
Shepherd took a 2-0 lead on the first possession of the game and from that point on the Rams never led again as Fairmont State dominated on both sides of the ball. Shepherd went on a small run to end the first half only trailing by 4 heading into the locker room.
The close scored wouldn’t last long as Fairmont State came out of halftime hitting several quick shots to stretch the lead to 10 just six minutes into the second half. The Falcons ran away with the game in the second half never allowing any sort of comeback on their way to a dominating 19 point victory.
Ryan McTavish led the Rams in scoring finishing the day with 12 points. McTavish also added six rebounds.
As a team the Rams shot a mediocre 35.6 percent from the field and a dismal 19 percent from beyond the arch on the day.
The Rams will play again when they face Glenville State on Tuesday in the Mountain East Conference Tournament. Time has not yet been announced.
