Shepherd volleyball improved to an 8-7 record after beating Notre Dame College of Ohio on Friday, Oct. 2, and Urbana University on Saturday, Oct. 3.
Rams handed Notre Dame College a 3-0 setback in South Euclid, Ohio, winning 26-24, 26-24 and 25-22. With this win, Shepherd improved to 2-0 in conference play and 7-7 overall, while Notre Dame fell to 0-3 in conference and 1-12 overall.
Senior outside hitter Taylor Allen recorded nine kills and four blocks. Sophomore middle hitter Christine Jackson added seven kills and a .455 attacking percentage, which paced the Rams. Freshman setter Cyera Dixon put up 24 assists and one ace. Kelsey Anderson, sophomore libero, had 17 digs, and senior outside hitter Samantha Scroggins added 14 digs.
The Notre Dame Falcons were led by Melissa Maczuzak, who had nine kills, and Tawnia Almaraz with 18 digs.
Shepherd carried that momentum into Saturday’s game at Urbana and handed them a 3-0 defeat. The Rams took 25-22, 26-24 and 25-18 victories against the Blue Knights. This match gave Shepherd their 8-7 record overall, and made them 3-0 in conference. Urbana fell 1-12 overall and 0-3 in conference.
Scroggins led the Rams with 10 kills, five blocks and five digs, while Allen followed posting nine kills, two aces and 13 digs. Dixon had 28 assists with nine digs, and Anderson had 10 digs.
Urbana was led by Madison Davis, who had nine kills, and Maia Dunlap, who posted 18 digs.
The Rams hit the court against Fairmont State at home on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m.
