Rams tie season win streak right before season finale

(THE PICKET)– The Shepherd Women’s Basketball team adds another win to the scorebook coming home from West Virginia Wesleyan. With this victory, the Rams improve to a record of 7-20 overall and 6-15 in conference.

The Rams came out fighting in the first period and outscored WVWC 23-20. They held on to their lead by a hair and went into the locker room with a one point lead, 40-39. Shepherd came out of halftime with determination and gave up the lead once in the third period, but took a 52-50 lead with 6:35 left in the third and never looked back. They sealed the deal and the clock wound down, giving the Rams an 89-83 road victory.

Kristen Nunn led her team with 23 points. She was three for three from the foul line and two for three from behind the arc.

Morgan Arden had 22 total points and five rebounds. Cara Mason was eight for nine from the field, scoring 16 points, had five rebounds and 10 assists. Liz Myers added 17 points for the Rams.

The Rams as a whole shot 57 percent from the field and 44 percent from three point range.

Shepherd takes on Fairmont State for their final home game of the regular season on Feb. 27 at 2 p.m.
