Rams Lacrosse lose home opener

The Rams Lacrosse season is off to a rocky start, losing to Shippensburg 11-9 in front of their home crowd on Saturday.

Shepherd kept the game close in the first half, coming back fighting after every Shippensburg goal. That fighting spirit let them walk into the locker room at halftime with a tie score of five to five.

Within 10 minutes of the start of the second period, Shippensburg had increased their lead and the score was eight to six. The Big Red continued to carry the momentum, scoring two more goals, making it 10 to six.

The Rams fought on and scored three goals in eight minutes to bring them within one. Shippensburg scored their eleventh goal with 5:34 left in the second period and the Rams couldn’t come back.

Haley Price and Brooke Hunley both scored three goals for the Rams. Hunley had three goals on four shots and Price was three goals for six shots.

Goalie Savannah Shores allowed 10 goals and had seven saves. Shores played 52 minutes and was relieved by Casey Hickman who allowed one goal and had one save. The Big Red put 26 shots on goal in total.

Overall, the Rams took 18 shots on goal.

Rams will travel to East Stroudsburg University on Wednesday, March 2 for a 4 o’clock game.
