(THE PICKET)—The Shepherd men’s soccer team continued a struggling season losing their eighth game Wednesday, Sept. 30, 3-1 to Urbana University bringing their record to 1-8 and 0-5 in the Mountain East Conference.
Urbana didn’t waste much time Wednesday taking the lead. Mike McFarlane scored just 3 minutes into the game giving Urbana a 1-0 lead. At the 36:20 mark of the first half, Urbana took a 2-0 lead when a goal was scored by Lewis Dunne.
The second half began similar to the first when Urbana’s Ben Fitzpatrick scored just 3 minutes in, making the score 3-0. The Rams broke the shut out at the 84 minute mark when George Novakowski scored his second goal of the season, making the score 3-1. However, the scoring effort was started too late, and the Rams were defeated 3-1.
The Rams look to break their losing streak Saturday, Oct. 3, when they take on the University of Charleston at 4 p.m.
