Joey Burkinshaw Wins Honors; Rams Finish Second Out of Ten

Joey Burkinshaw took medalist honors at the Shenandoah University Invitational helping Shepherd to a runner-up placement.

On Sept. 20 and 21, Shepherd attended the annual Shenandoah University Invitational, where the team placed second out of 10 schools. Burkinshaw placed first in the two-day competition with a score of 142, and on Sept. 23, was named Mountain East Conference Player of the Week.

Burkinshaw finished first overall while senior Chris Ferrell, sophomore Robert Fleming, and freshman Brandon Dang all tied for 10th with freshman Will Holmes tied for 37th out of 51 total golfers.

Shepherd finished 29 over par, one stroke behind Roanoke, who finished 28 over with Shenandoah University finishing in third with 33 over par.

The next tournament for the Rams will be the MEC Fall Invitational on Monday, Sept. 29 and Tuesday, Sept. 30.
