SPORTS RECAP: Rams Basketball Defeats Kutztown 

On Saturday, the Shepherd Men’s Basketball team defeated Kutztown University on Senior Day, advancing Shepherd to the playoffs as the #6 seed. However, the Shepherd Women’s Basketball team had two losses this week against Shippensburg University and Kutztown University, forcing the Lady Rams to miss the playoffs for a second year in a row. 

 

Women’s Basketball 

This week the Lady Rams took detrimental losses towards Kutztown University and Shippensburg University. With those two losses, they were forced to cut their season short as they missed any hopes post-season for the second year straight. 

 

Feb. 28 

On Wednesday, the Women’s Basketball traveled to Pennsylvania to face off Shippensburg University. Shepherd took a detrimental loss as they lost to the Raiders 51-93. They now stand at 6-20 making it the second year in a row where they’ve lost 20 or more games. 

 

Some notable Rams were Grad-student Forward Cara Minor and Freshman Forward Carmaya Bowman. Minor led the team with 12 points while Bowman snagged a team high of eight rebounds. 

 

March 2nd  

On Saturday, the Lady Rams closed out their season playing against Kutztown University at home, losing on Senior Day by the Golden Bears 50-73. However, there were some Rams to highlight through this game.  

 

Minor closed out her season with a season-high of 15 points. 

 

Bowman also had a solid game with nine points, led the Rams with eight rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals. She also connected on three of four field goals. 

 

Women’s Basketball 2024 Season Statistics 

Although a tough season for the Lady Rams, many showed their skills and talent on the court this year. 

 

Men’s Basketball 

March 2nd  

On Saturday, the Men’s Basketball team stayed home to face their last game of the season on Senior Day against Kutztown University. With the playoffs on the line, the Rams defeated the Golden Bears 88-62, and clinched the #6 seed in the PSAC Tournament ending their season with a 13-14 record. 

Senior Guard Daniel McClain-Corley was on fire as he led the team in scoring with 21 points. McClain-Corley also went three of three from the free throw line and had two steals. 

Freshman Guard Marcus Banks had 12 points and led the Rams with eight rebounds. 

Senior Guard Phillip (PJ) Jordan was an all-around team player as he led the Rams with a game-high of eight assists while also putting up eight points.
