Getting to this point in the season for the Rams has had their ups and downs. The Rams finished out there season 1-1 both very close intense games.
The Rams took on Bluefield State Monday night and came out with a 62-61 victory to make it to the WVIAC Women’s State Tournament. Sophomore Rachel Johnson hit the game winning three-pointer with only two seconds left in regulation. Johnson scored a total of 11 points, pulled down six rebounds, and three assists.
Sophomore Gabby Flinchum had a game high of 19 points. She went 9-of-15 shots from the field and 1-of-2 from the line. Junior Jimyse Brown had a double-double with 12 points and tying her game high of 11 rebounds. Senior Emily Daniel had six points as well as six rebounds and three assists.
The Rams led the game in rebounds 45-39, shot 38.1 percent from the floor, 66.7 percent from down town and 52.6 percent from the line. The Rams had a 19 point lead in the second have, but Bluefield fought back. The Lady Blues went on a 14-6 run leading 61-59 until Johnson came in clutch.
The Rams headed on the road to Charleston they knew it wasn’t going to be easy as they prepared themselves with watching game film and practice.
The Rams ended their season in a double overtime lost 88-87 lost to West Liberty Wednesday night at the Charleston Civic Center.
Emily Daniel finished out her Shepherd career with 25 points and a career high of 20 rebounds, putting a true meaning of double-double. Daniel went 8-of-15 drained shots, three assists, two steals, and perfect from the line 8-of-8.
Senior Priscilla Moseh finshed her Shepherd career as well with 20 points her career high, and seven rebounds. Gabby Flinchum had 12 points seven rebounds, and Jimyse Brown added 10 points and also seven rebounds.
The Hilltoppers were no match for the Rams on the boards with a 62-37 advantage. The Rams shot 37.7 percent from the floor, 15.8 percent from downtown, and 79.4 percent from the foul line.
The game had 20 ties and 11 lead changes. The Hilltoppers were up 79-77 in the last ovetime with little over 4:30 left. With 12 seconds left sophomore Alex Weakland cut the lead to 88-87 with a layup. The Hilltoppers played smart and ran out the clock.
Daniel finished her career with 1,167 points placing her seventh in all-time scoring for Shepherd, and her 805 rebounds places her forth in the all-time Shepherd list.
The Lady Rams finishes the season 14-14.
