Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra 2012-2013 Series Ends: Guest Conductor Simeone Tartaglione to Give Final Performance

Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra will give its final performance of the 2012-2013 Friends of Music Concert Series on March 9 at 8:00 p.m. in the Frank Arts Center.

Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra and guest conductor Simeone Tartaglione will be taking the audience on an “Italian Adventure” with repertoire that includes works from Sicily, Naples and Rome. Such works will include: Gioachino Rossini’s “William Tell Overture” and “L’italiana in Algeri” (“The Italian Girl in Algiers”), as well as contemporary works by Teresa Procaccini and Italian American John Corigliano.

Tartaglione is a versatile conductor of the European tradition who has won several competitions and awards, including Allied Arts, Leon Guide, Athanor, Le Arti, Telamone, Diamante della Musica, Sykele’ and Rapisarda. Tartaglione has an extensive background in symphonic and operatic repertoires in orchestras from around the world, including Italy and Ukraine.

Tartaglione currently serves as a conductor and on the board of directors of the Chesapeake Concert Opera in Baltimore, Md., the music director of the Newark Symphony Orchestra and the music director of the BE Orchestra in Baltimore, Md. He is also the artistic director of the Symphonia Association in Italy.

Tickets for the Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra concert cost $22; tickets may also be purchased in mini subscriptions, which allow an individual to pick up to three remaining concerts in the series and save money. Tickets for the concert can be purchased online at the Friends of Music website (www.sufom.org) or by phone at (304) 876-5765. A downloadable and printable ticket form for mail-in is also available on the Friends of Music website. Any and all individual ticket purchases will not be mailed and can be picked up at the Frank Arts Center box office, which opens at least one hour before the performance will begin.

Friends of Music also introduces “Take Note,” a new program that “encourage[s] the young audience to experience more live classical music.” The program is available to concert goers between the ages of 15-35, who will attend selected Friends of Music concerts. However, tickets are on a first-come, first-serve basis, so supplies are limited.
