Shepherd women’s tennis team traveled to Hilton Head, South Carolina, Sunday, March 11, to face the Warriors of East Stroudsburg. The Warriors would over power the Rams winning 8-1.
In the singles matchups, East Stroudsburg won four out of the five matches.
In the first singles match, Shepherd’s Zoie O’Neal lost to Marina Zardet in two sets.
First Set: Zardet, 6-3
Second Set: Zardet, 6-1
Match Two was competitive as Devin Presby of ESU won the first set and Alisha Adkins of Shepherd won the second forcing a Coman tie-break.
First Set: Presby, 6-2
Second Set: Adkins, 6-3
Tie-Break: Presby, 10-5
Both of the two sets in set three had the same result as Aubriana Stetina of ESU won both against junior Anna Brock.
First Set: Stetina, 7-5
Second Set: Stetina, 7-5
In the fourth set, the Rams would finally taste victory, as Shepherd’s Zoe Nicewander defeated Quinn McCluskey in two sets.
First Set: Nicewander, 6-0
Second Set: Nicewander, 6-1
In the fifth set SU’s Nicolette Bruley lost to ESU’s Elizabeth Bartoli in two sets.
First Set: Bartoli, 6-4
Second Set: Bartoli, 6-0
In the Doubles matchups ESU would get the best of Shepherd in the two matches between, O’Neal and Adkins vs. Zardet and Stetina. ESU would win 8-6
In the second doubles match, Bartoli and Presby of ESU defeated Anna Bock and Bruley, 8-5.
The Rams will play again Monday in the Hilton Head Tournament, opponent and time is TBA.
