Shepherd Volleyball Splits the Weekend

The Rams took West Virginia State by storm on Friday, Oct. 14, when they shut out the Yellow Jackets in three sets. In front of home crowd, Shepherd took the first set 25-13, and carried the momentum into the second, winning 25-20 and taking the third 25-23.

Amanda Snowden led the Rams with 11 kills, while Peyton Lindblad was not far behind with nine. Lindblad and Christine Jackson both had five blocks to contribute to the victory. Kelsey Anderson kept Shepherd going with 10 digs.

Unfortunately, the Rams couldn’t bring enough energy into Saturday’s game against University of Charleston, and were defeated in five sets. Charleston took the first and second sets 26-24 and 25-11. The Rams fought back and took the third and fourth sets from the Golden Eagles 25-15 and 26-24.

This match came down to the tie-breaking fifth set, when the Rams were narrowly edged out 15-12. Jaila Bell recorded 14 kills on the match for the Rams as well as 15 digs. Anderson had four aces and 16 digs, while Seone Goode had six blocks.

The Rams sit with at 8-14 overall and 3-5 in the Mountain East Conference. Shepherd will take on Wheeling Jesuit in the Butcher Center on Friday, Oct. 21 at 6 p.m.
