The Shepherd Rams volleyball team suffered losses on Friday, Oct. 23, to Wheeling Jesuit and on Saturday, Oct. 24, to West Liberty.
Both games were away.
The Rams dropped 3-0 to number six ranked Wheeling Jesuit with 25-6, 25-17 and 25-12 scores. Shepherd fell to 5-4 in the Mountain East Conference, while Wheeling Jesuit improved to 9-0.
Sophomore middle hitter Christine Jackson led the Rams with six kills and three blocks. Cyera Dixon, freshman setter, posted 17 assists and 13 digs, while senior outside hitter/libero Samantha Scroggins had 11 digs.
Kayce Krucki and Haley Kindall each had eight kills for the Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals. Andrea Thobe had 35 assists and 14 digs, while Jessica Thobe added a match-high 21 digs.
The Rams travelled to West Liberty and were shut down in three sets with scores of 25-13, 25-20 and 25-23. This loss set Shepherd back to 5-5 in MEC play and 10-13 overall. West Liberty sits at 5-5 in the conference as well, and 12-14 overall.
Scroggins led Shepherd with 11 kills and 14 digs. Jackson had eight kills, and freshman middle blocker/right side Sophie Foster had seven. Dixon added 32 assists. Senior outside hitter/opposite Anna Roper had 11 digs, while freshman defensive specialist Allison Crumling had 10.
The West Liberty Hilltoppers were led by Amanda Leonard who posted 10 kills, 21 assists and 11 digs. Courtney Pyeritz had 19 digs, and Stephanie Leonard had 10 assists.
The Rams hit the court again on Friday, Oct. 30, when they host Urbana University at 7 p.m.
