(THE PICKET) – The Rams volleyball team came back from a two set to none struggle to win the match three sets to two with the fifth game tie-breaker against Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
Shepherd came back from losing 14-25 and 20-25 in the third set, regaining momentum with a score of 25-19 forcing a fourth set. Rams took the fourth set as well 25-21, forcing a fifth game tie-breaker.
Shepherd started strong with an 11 to five point lead, but the Crimson Hawks rallied and came back to tie it 12-all and 13-all.
Rams took the win with a kill from freshman middle blocker Bailey Conner, making the score 14-13 and ending the game with an attack error by IUP’s Alexis Anderson, with a final score of 15-13 Rams.
Senior outside hitter/libero Samantha Scroggins had 11 kills and seven digs, while senior outside hitter Taylor Allen put up six kills and 23 digs for the Rams.
Sophomore defensive specialist/libero Kelsey Anderson had 21 digs, while freshman setter Cyera Dixon added 33 assists and 15 digs.
Junior outside hitter/right side Grace Simmons had seven kills, while sophomore middle hitter Christine Jackson added eight.
Alexis Anderson had 19 kills with 11 digs, and Natalie Cignetti added 12 for IUP.
The Rams hit the court this Friday, Sept. 18, when they travel to the Wheeling Jesuit Tournament taking on Kutztown at 11:30 a.m. and Slippery Rock at 7 p.m.
