Shepherd University will be hosting a Master Scholars Program, for community members and alumni.
This program will be taking place between July 28, 2016 and July 31, 2016 and includes visits to the theater, wine tasting from local wineries, historical tours including ones to Antietam National Battlefield and the George Tyler Moore for the study of the Civil War. Participants will be given the choice between a tour that highlights the historical elements of the Shepherdstown area, or a bike ride along the Potomac River. Bikes will be provided.
Dr. Thomas Segar, vice president
of student affairs, is in charge of the program.
“Imagine a four-day weekend in Shepherdstown. Now imagine if you have a chance to experience the Contemporary American Theater Festival, the Civil War Center, healthy cooking, our wellness center, outdoor activities,” he said.
The program is designed for people not familiar with Shepherdstown, he said.
“It was created with more mature folks in mind, that have already attended college… for those who want to enjoy the theater and want to enjoy fine dining,” Segar said.
The cost of attendance varies based on what type of package a participant would be interested in. For a single participant who does not want on-campus lodging, the cost is $500.00. For someone who wants to stay on campus for the program, the cost is $750.00. And for couples who want a weekend getaway together, the cost is $1,200.00.
These costs include housing for the event and meals that Shepherd University provides.
