On Saturday, April 11, the Shepherd Rams earned their first sweep since March 17, winning both of their games over the West Virginia State Yellow Jackets.
The Rams picked up the victory in game one by the score of 3-1.
Senior right fielder Tayler Schaefer reached on a fielding error, resulting in two runs to get the Rams on the board in the second inning.
In the fifth inning, freshman shortstop Courtney Clemons had an RBI single to center field to put Shepherd up 3-0.
Sophomore pitcher Kirsten Barstad earned her sixth victory of the season, going seven innings and giving up seven hits, one run and four strikeouts.
In game two, the Rams pulled off a come-from-behind victory to win 7-5.
Trailing 4-1 going into the fifth inning, Shepherd put up three runs in the fifth and three runs in the sixth.
Senior third baseman Savannah Snyder went three-for-four with two RBIs and had a solo home run in the fifth inning.
Sophomore first baseman Alexandra Witt went one-for-two with two RBIs.
The Rams had four different hitter record two or more hits in the game.
Sophomore Tara Hanson picked up the win, allowing eight hits, five runs, one earned, and striking out five. Hanson now has seven wins for the year.
