Shepherd Offers Hershey Park Trip for Students

On Oct. 25, Shepherd University is offering a charter bus to students who paid for tickets for fall festivities held at Hershey Park.

In light of the holiday, the park is presenting fall and Halloween based activities and live entertainment, including nighttime rides.  The track lights on Lightning Racer, Wildcat, and Comet will be turned off after 9 p.m.

The hours which the rides open or close may vary because of unseasonably cold weather.  Temperatures nearing 40 degrees thicken the grease on the rides, which in turn causes them to slow down.  A full list of rides subject to change can be found on the Hershey Park website.

There will be a “trick or treat adventure” for children 12 years and under.  The trick-or-treat route starts at Hershey’s Chocolate World and continues to Treatville located near FEARenheit.

Another event called the Pumpkin Glow features over 150 lit, carved pumpkins located at the Hershey Gardens.  Children can trick-or-treat while they walk through the gardens.  Other guests watch live pumpkin carving courtesy of students from Lebanon County Career and Technical Center’s Culinary and Pastry Arts program.

Musical entertainment will be provided by two groups: Bunsen and the Burners and Screaming Mummies.

Bunsen and the Burners will play in the Chevrolet Music Box Theatre.  For Oct. 25, they play at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 7:30 p.m., and 8:30 p.m.

Screaming Mummies will perform at Treatville. Their times on Saturday, Oct. 25, will be 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 7 p.m., and 8 p.m.
