Shepherd Men’s Tennis suffered a tough loss Friday afternoon to the University of Charleston. The day ended with Charleston winning 9-0, taking all the matches in the contest.
The doubles matches were lost by wide margins with one exception. Freshman Carter Davis and senior Grant Davis lost 8-5, while freshman Kaleb Lochner and junior Austin Thomas lost 8-1. The doubles’ team of senior Lewis Charette and sophomore Clay Smith had the closest match of the day, but ultimately lost by a 9-7 score.
In singles, Carter Davis lost his matches by 6-4 and 7-5 scores, respectively. Charette also lost by 6-2 and 6-4 scores. Lochner fell in both matches losing 6-1 both times. Thomas lost 7-5 in the first set and then 6-4 in the second set. Smith lost 6-2 in the first set and 6-4 in the second set.
The Rams will have a chance to redeem themselves when they return to the court Sunday at 11 a.m. against Millersville University.
