The Shepherd men’s soccer team lost again Friday afternoon Oct. 6, by a 4-0 score against West Virginia Wesleyan in Buckhannon, W.Va.
Both teams looked aggressive in the beginning of the game, picking up a pair of fouls. In the 15:52 mark. Juwon Akintunde would give the Bobcats their first goal off a rebound of his own shot.
After the score the Bobcats continued their offensive attack, creating lots of opportunities for themselves. Wesleyan had a total of 15 shots with six shots on goal. Shepherd only had five shots the entire game.
The Bobcats defense gave the Rams a hard time on offense. The Bobcats pestering defense gave them more chances to score, such as in the 36th minute, when Paul Smith kicked it past Rams senior Jacob Clements to make the score 2-0 going into halftime.
As the second half got under way Shepherd looked to regroup and find a way to get on the board. Senior Justin Marshall would try to put the Rams on board in the 60th minute with a shot but was denied by the Wesleyan goalkeeper Cooper Zent.
Wesleyan continued their attack on offense, as Conor Davies would score at the 67:25 mark, and Akintunde would score his second goal of the game, making the score 4-0, in favor of the Bobcats.
The Rams had a few opportunities to score, but could not seem to get it together on the offensive side of the ball, as time expired and they were still without a goal.
