(THE PICKET)- The Shepherd Lacrosse team took down UVA-Wise on Saturday 19-9, honoring their seniors’ last home game.
The Rams and Cavaliers were tied 7-7 going into half-time. It was anybody’s game coming out of the locker room. Shepherd took control in the second half, outscoring UVA-Wise 12-2.
Hunter Morris and Haley Price each scored five goals for the Rams. Courtney Matthews added four, while Erin Phelan had three goals. Courtney Schwiegerath and Sarah Wendt each added a goal for Shepherd.
Theresa Lang had a pair of assists while Price, Wendt, E. Phelan, and Kelsey Phelan each had one assist. Savannah Shores had eight saves for the Rams.
This win puts the Rams at 5-1 in the Mountain East Conference and 7-9 overall. The Rams will try and add to their three-game win streak on Friday, April 29 when they take on UVA-Wise at 4 p.m. in Wheeling, West Virginia, for their first game in the Mountain East Conference Tournament.
