(THE PICKET)—The Rams took a hard loss on Wednesday against out-of-conference Mercyhurst University at Ram Stadium. This loss 21-10 loss puts the Rams at 0-4 on the season. The Rams have been in an unbreakable slump since last year’s undefeated season that crowned them Mountain East Conference Champs.
Both the Rams and Lakers played physically causing many flags to be thrown and cards to be given. At halftime the Lakers were up 10-7 and they came out of halftime with the same momentum, if not more. In the second half, Mercyhurst scored 11 goals while Shepherd only scored three.
Of Shepherd’s 10 goals, four were made my Erin Phelan. Alex Green had two goals, Brooke Hunley, Courtney Matthews, Haley Price and Sarah Wendt all scored one goal to aid the Rams. Savannah Shores had 18 saves on the game.
The Rams had 20 turnovers compared to the Lakers’ nine. Mercyhurst dominated draw controls, taking 25 with Shepherd taking seven.
The Rams host Wilmington University on Thursday at 4 p.m. at Ram Stadium.
