The Shepherd Rams golf team teed off for the first time on Friday, Sept. 12 at the Hal Hansen Invitational and finished in ninth place out of the 11 teams.
At the same tournament last year, the Rams finished in 10th out of 11.
The two-round tournament saw sophomore Joe Burkinshaw lead the Rams with a score of 151.
Sophomore Robert Flemming shot three strokes higher than Burkinshaw and ended the tournament with a score of 154.
Senior Chris Ferrell was third among Rams, scoring 162.
Freshman Will Holmes, who was playing in his first tournament here at Shepherd, shot 165.
Finally, freshman Brandon Dang, who was also playing his first tournament at Shepherd, ended with a score 166.
The total score for the team was 629. Gannon University, who ended up finishing first, shot 590.
The Rams will return to action on Monday, Sept 15 at the University of Charleston Invitational and hope to improve from this performance.
