For the second time in two days the Shepherd basketball team put together an all around impressive performance on their way to another win Saturday against the West Virginia State University Yellow Jackets 89-72.
In a game that looked similar to Thursday’s game against University of Charleston, the Rams and Yellow jackets battled back and forth throughout the first half with no team taking momentum or gaining a large lead. The Rams took a slight advantage going into halftime with a lead of 34-29.
The Rams came out firing in the second half extending their lead to 10 just over two minutes into the half, which included two quick three pointers by Steffen Davis. The Yellow Jackets made several runs in their comeback attempt but could never draw any closer than 6 as shepherd pulled away to a 17 point victory.
Skylar Roman finished the day with 28 points and added 14 rebounds.
Steffen Davis added 20 points in the victory including 5 three pointers.
On the day the Rams shot 40 percent from the field, while shooting 37.8 from behind the arch.
Shepherd will hit the court again Thursday when they take on West Virginia Wesleyan at 7:30 p.m. in their final road game of the regular season.
