The Rams (18-10, 15-7 MEC) lost 95-80 to top-ranked Fairmont State University (27-1, 21-1 MEC) on Saturday.
On the road for the last regular season game, the Rams were faced with the tough task of battling Fairmont.
The Rams played hard and battled. Trading buckets with the top team in the country, the Rams would go into halftime down 45-39
In the second half, the fighting Falcons began to show why they’re the number-one team in the nation. Despite the Rams’ effort and hard work, they could not cut into Fairmont’s lead. Plagued by turnovers, the Rams fell farther and farther behind. Led by Senior Thomas Wimbush with 32 points, the fighting Falcons pulled away and sealed the game.
The Rams were led by Junior Steffen Davis with 27 points on 10 of 19 shooting, hitting five shots from behind the arc. Senior Naim Muhammad contributed with 17 points on 7 of 15 shooting from the floor. Junior Skyler Roman chipped in with 12 points as well as Junior Aj Carr with 10 points.
The regular season is over and its tournament time.
The Rams are in Charlestown for the conference tournament. They will face Notre Dame College March. 3 at 8:15 p.m.
