The Shepherd Student Government Association’s first meeting of the semester was a brief event in which the SGA discussed upcoming events and possible changes on campus including a new EPTA bus schedule.
Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Tom Segar told the SGA Senate that the options moving forward with the EPTA bus schedule were either to remain with the current system of busses reaching stops every half hour or to add a second bus, making pickups once every 15 minutes.
The addition of a second bus, he said, would cost “an additional $42,000 a year” or in other terms “$7.11 per semester per student.” A decision is coming soon regarding the future of the EPTA schedule, said Segar.
Director of Residence Life Liz Sechler informed the SGA Senate that the 2017-18 school year room and board options and prices were now available. The new Potomac Place, opening next fall, will be $3,188 for double occupancy and $4,275 for single occupancy. The full room and board costs can be found here. Sechler also said that the prices for housing and meal plans had not increased from those of the 2016-17 school year.
The SGA was reminded of the upcoming event Glow Rage’s Paint U by Rachael Meads of the program board. She said that a survey regarding future programs was sent to the student body via email to better understand student preferences for the type and frequency of programs.
Meads also said that beginning in March, the midway would be inaccessible for programming due to planned demolition and construction on the site of Sara Cree Hall though this August.
