Rude Mechanicals to Preform “Twelfth Night”

The Shepherd University Rude Mechanicals are putting on a production of Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night,” a romantic comedy about love, mistaken identities and holiday reveling. If that isn’t enough excitement, there are also shipwrecks, sword fights and dancing.

The Rude Mechanicals strictly perform productions of the Medieval and Renaissance eras. Dr. Ellzey is the director of the Rude Mechanicals. “Students should come to see the play because it is funny and to see 30 of their fellow students act, sing, play music and dance,” said Ellzey.

Ryan Smith, a student at Shepherd University, will be playing Fabian in “Twelfth Night.” Smith’s role is comical because she is a drunkard, but she always has fun with it. Smith commented, “Coming out to see the play is a good way to experience Shakespeare in a new way. No one does theatre quite like the Rudes do.” So, break away from reality for a little while and enjoy “Twelfth Night.”

Performances of “Twelfth Night” are Friday, Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 8:45 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 14 at 8:45 p.m., Friday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m.
