The Shepherd University volleyball team started their weekend off right with a win against Glenville State on Friday, Sept. 23, for the conference opener. Unfortunately their winning streak ended when Davis & Elkins took down the Rams in front of their home crowd.
Shepherd traveled to Glenville, West Virginia, and took down the Pioneers in three sets; 25-12, 25-18, and 25-14. Christine Jackson led the Rams with nine kills and a .900 attack percentage. Peyton Lindblad recorded seven kills while Jaila Bell had six. Kelsey Anderson had 22 digs for the Rams.
The Senators defeated the Rams on Saturday, Sept. 24, in four sets; 17-25, 25-23, 21-25, and 23-25. Lindblad led the Rams with 14 kills, followed by Bell who had 11 kills and 10 digs. Sophie Foster made her presence known at the net with six blocks. Anderson had 17 digs for the Rams.
Shepherd sits with a record of 6-9 overall and 1-0 in the Mountain East Conference. The Rams will have their home opener against Notre Dame College on Friday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. in the Butcher Center.
