The Rams volleyball team traveled to Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, for four matches over Friday, Sept. 2, and Saturday, Sept 3. The Rams started their season off with two wins on Friday, but failed to carry the winning streak into Saturday.
Their first match Friday was against Lock Haven University. The Rams dominated in three sets, winning 27-25, 25-13, and 25-16. Jaila Bell led the Rams with 11 kills and 17 digs. Jessica Karcz made her presence known with four aces, while Becca Kern had 15 assists and 11 digs.
Shepherd faced Stonehill College for their second match of the tournament. Rams defeated the Skyhawks in four sets; 25-19, 20-25, 25-19, 25-19. Peyton Lindblad led Shepherd with nine kills, while Christine Jackson added six blocks for the Rams.
The Rams faced California University of Pennsylvania on Saturday and were abruptly handed a loss in three sets; 12-25, 19-25, 13-25. Lindblad led with six kills and Kelsey Anderson had eight digs for Shepherd.
Unfortunately, the Rams took that lack of momentum into their second match of the day and lost to Ashland University in four sets; 25-21, 17-25, 19-25, 19-25. Lindblad again led the Rams with 11 kills on the match. Cambriea Hill led the Rams with 12 digs. She also had seven kills and one block.
The Rams will travel to Shippensburg University for a tournament on Friday, Sept. 9, where they will play four games over two days.
