Shepherd rallies after timeout

Rams Volleyball Falls to Fairmont State

The Shepherd Volleyball team put up quite a fight when they traveled to Fairmont State on Tuesday, Oct. 4, losing the match in the fifth set. The Rams won the first set 26-24 and had some momentum. Unfortunately, it didn’t last long.

The Falcons retaliated in the second set and evened the match, 1-1 with a 28-26 win. They kept that momentum going into the third set for a 25-23 victory. If the Rams wanted a chance, they had to take the fourth set.

Shepherd brought their A-game and put up a 25-20 victory, forcing the if-necessary fifth set. The Rams battled hard but were pushed to their limit. Fairmont State came back with a vengeance, scoring five unanswered points to start the set. The Rams came within four, but were unable to recover. Fairmont State took the fifth set 15-7.

After this loss, the Rams sit with an overall record of 7-11 and 2-2 in the Mountain East Conference. Shepherd will travel to Wheeling Jesuit University on Friday, Oct. 7, for a 7 p.m. match.
