The Rams defeated Concord 61-21 and improved to 3-1 in blowout fashion Saturday, which saw the Shepherd offense rack up 576 yards of total offense.

The passing offense of the Rams continues to improve with freshman quarterback number nine Tyson Bagent throwing for 364 yards and four touchdowns, but even more importantly, no interceptions. Senior wide receiver number three Ryan Feiss was the main recipient on the day, as he caught 12 passes for a career high 211 yards and three touchdowns.

The offense of the Rams was humming from the start of the game, as they had three rushing touchdowns within the first 16 minutes of the game behind freshman running back number 27 Zyan Studivant and junior running back number 29 Deonte Glover.

The Concord offense responded with a 12-point second quarter after falling down 20-7 keyed by a 63-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Akin to receiver Tywan Pearce. Concord also put up points with a safety and a Luke Walls field goal. Despite the run, the Rams were able to add another touchdown to make it 27-19 with the first Bagent to Feiss connection of the game midway through the second quarter.

In the third quarter, the Rams blew the game wide open with three straight scores in seven minutes of action in the third quarter and before you knew it, the score was 47-19. Glover added his second touchdown run of the night followed by two Bagent touchdown passes to Feiss and senior receiver Wanye Allen.

The final points for Concord to get them to 21 came on the point after attempt on the Allen touchdown, as it was blocked and Chaudlier Shephard returned it 98 yards. With the Rams up 26 points going into the fourth, the offense felt the need to add 14 more with the third touchdown pass from Bagent to Feiss, a 65-yard catch and run, and a 30-yard run from freshman running back number 28 Sam James.

Sturdivant’s 86 yards through 19 carries on the ground was a game high, as the offense seemed to click on all cylinders Saturday.

The Rams defense was also able to show up in a category head coach Ernie McCook has stressed before, takeaways. The Rams came away with two interceptions on the day from sophomores defensive back number 21 Delonte Berry and linebacker number 59 Ricky Robinson.

The Rams next contest will be Saturday, Oct. 6, against Mountain East Conference foe West Liberty at 12 p.m. as they seek their fourth win on the year.
