Shepherd University resumed classes on Aug. 24 and campus culture is back in full swing.
Faculty, staff and students stood in front of the campus bookstore, Snyder Hall, White Hall, the Pedestrian Underpass and the Center for Contemporary Arts to direct newcoming Rams around campus or answer general questions.
“A lot of people needed help finding their classes or didn’t know what to do when they got here,” said Paul Teter, a Shepherd admissions counselor, who spearheaded the Ask-a-Ram initiative. “We’re here to help.”
The Scarborough Library underwent some changes over the summer, with a remodeling of the 24-Hour Room and the addition of study pods on the third floor.
“We’re constantly working on new events for students to get them in the library,” said Elayna Sylvester, a student library assistant.
The library is also currently offering a back-to-school scavenger hunt activity. Students are welcome to participate by finding clues throughout the building that will lead them to a secret prize.
On the lawn of Snyder Hall, the Program Board hosted a Welcome Back Booth, offering free donuts and a chance to spin a wheel for a $50 bookstore gift card.
“Students are able to come out here, spin our wheel and get some free treats,” said Grady Baracka, a programmer for the Program Board.
On Sept. 2, the Involvement Fair will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on the Midway Lawn. The biannual event offers a chance for students to see the clubs and organizations available for them to join.
