Ram News and Notes

Men’s Basketball:

March 14th–   Senior forward Chad Moore was named to the 2013 Daktronics All-Atlantic Men’s Basketball Team as a second team selection. He led the WVIAC in scoring and ended up ranked eighth nationally with 22.9 points per game as well as 9 rebounds per game. Moore set the single season record for steals with 68 and finished with 2,083 points. That total is good enough for fifth-best all time at Shepherd. He has 1,034 career rebounds which have him at fourth all-time. Moore’s 227 steals place him in a tie for second all-time at Shepherd.

 

Football:

March 8th– Twenty-six student athletes were announced by head coach Monte Cater to play for the Rams in 2013. Among the group thirteen are from Maryland, eight from Virginia, two from West Virginia, and one each from Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Washington, D.C. Additional recruits will be announced at a later date.

 

Rams Senior Duo Gets Recognized:

March 7th- Senior forward Justin Bryan of the men’s basketball team and senior outside hitter Kasey Mercier of the volleyball team were named as WVIAC College Foundation of West Virginia (CFWV) Senior Scholar-Athlete award winners. All award winners must compile at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA during their careers. Bryan is an accounting major and was a member of the men’s basketball team for all four years. Mercier is a sports communications and marketing major and started all four years on the volleyball team. Both Bryan and Mercier were named to the 2011-12 WVIAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll as Shepherd’s scholar-athletes while being selected as D2ADA Academic Achievement Award winners.
