(THE PICKET)-Bubble tea and Asian fusion drinks are now available in downtown Shepherdstown at the new café, The Green Pineapple.
“I opened Green Pineapple because I really enjoy these drinks and I enjoy interacting with customers even more,” owner Shane Broadwater said. “I really wanted to have a place where I could actually just hang out with people and enjoy a drink with them.”
Broadwater is the owner of Vape Seed as well, which is also on 120 W German Street.
“With my vape shop, I can talk to people who vape. That’s pretty much it, and there is nothing wrong with that, but with the café, I can talk to just about anyone, which is awesome,” Broadwater said.
Customers such as Kiara Goeins, a senior at Shepherd University are excited to try all of the Pineapple’s drinks.
“I love bubble tea,” Goeins said. “I’d suggest their signature drink, The Green Pineapple. I mean the store is named after it for a reason. The gummy pineapple pieces at the bottom are so delicious.”
The Green Pineapple is a hub for students and residents of Shepherdstown. One customer, Samantha Gray, a junior at Shepherd, was happy with the atmosphere.
“It’s so open and modern,” Gray said. “The bar is really nice; it is a great area for everyone to just hang out between classes.”
Currently the café is only selling drinks, but they will also be bringing food items to the restaurant in the next few months like Korean barbeque.
