(THE PICKET)—The Shepherd Rams men’s soccer team won their first game of the season Wednesday, Sept. 16, 3-2 over the Washington Adventist University Shock on a late goal by Sophomore Jeff Kammerer.
The Rams took the lead at 28:11 when Kyle Smith scored on an assist from Kyle Martian. The Shock tied the game up three minutes later when Douglas Guavera scored on a penalty kick, making the score 1-1 going into the half.
The tie remained for the first 30 minutes of the second half. At the 72:04 mark, WSU’s Christian Wright scored on a pass from Kingsley Nwosu to give the Shock a
2-1 lead with only 15 minutes left in the game.
With less than 10 minutes left in the half, a penalty shot by Jeff Kammerer tied the game at 2. With time running out in the second half, Kammerer scored his second goal of the game, and third of the season, giving Shepherd their first win of the year.
The Rams will play their next game at home Saturday, Sept. 19, against Shippensburg University at 12 p.m.
