Lady Rams Volleyball Split Four Games

The Shepherd University Lady Rams volleyball team faced a total of four games last week and came away with two victories and two losses.

Their two victories came against Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Le Moyne University. In their win on Thursday, Sept. 10, the Lady Rams won three sets to one against the Crimson Hawks of IUP. Senior Valerie Bour had a team high with 15 kills and 18 digs, while junior Taylor Allen recorded 12 kills and 12 digs. Junior Samantha Scroggins had team high 22 digs.

Against Le Moyne University, Shepherd took the victory 3-0. This was the team’s only victory from the Wheeling Jesuit Tournament out of a total of three matches. No stats were made available from the match.

At the Wheeling Jesuit Tournament, the Lady Rams dropped two games to Lock Haven University and Long Island University Post. Shepherd was only able to take one set against the Bald Eagles of Lock Haven. Freshman Kayleigh Helgesen led the team with 12 kills. Bour was second on the team with 11. Lock Haven improved to 5-0 on the season with the win.

In their lost to LIU Post, the Lady Rams took it to a fifth set, but came up short. The team was once again by Holgesen and Bour in kills, with Helgesen recording 17 and Valerie Bour adding 14. Taylor Allen and Samantha Scroggins led the team in digs, Allen with 17 and Scroggins with 14.

Next up on the schedule for Shepherd are home matches versus UVA Wise on Friday, Sept. 19 and Concord University on Saturday, Sept. 20. The Lady Rams will also travel to Seton Hill University to face the Griffins.
