Gay Men’s Chorus Comes to Shepherd

The Performing Arts Series of Shepherd University is sponsoring another amazing event on March 22. The Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, D.C. will perform in the Frank Center Theater at 8 p.m. that night.

According to Rachael Meads, assistant director of the Student Center, this event is the result of  a collaboration between the Performing Arts Series of Shepherd (PASS) and the Office of Multicultural Affairs. Bassell Franks from Multicultural Affairs is the lead presenter and organizer for the event.

The Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington features over 275 singing members, two vocal ensembles, 100 support volunteers, and has an annual audience of over 12,000. They have performed at the White House, the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts and Carnegie Hall.

The PASS website quotes that the Gay Men’s Chorus is “dedicated to both artistic excellence and social justice education.” As part of their 33rd season, the Chorus will perform a new program at Shepherd called Passion—“An Evening for All Romantics.” This program features romantic music ranging from Dolly Parton and Broadway to opera.

The Gay Men’s Chorus program is expected to be a big, exciting event, so claim your tickets soon. They can be purchased in the Shepherd bookstore or online at shepherdbook.com. They are $15 for general public, $10 for seniors and Shepherd staff, $5 for children, and free for Shepherd students. Find more information on the Gay Men’s Chorus at GMCW.org and, of course, enjoy the show!
