Beginning Nov. 10 and ending Nov. 28, the Shepherd University Art Department is hosting a student competitive art exhibition.
This event calls for students to submit art proposals for the department to review. Students can submit a variety of art and ideas, but only certain proposals will be accepted. Once the proposals have been reviewed, the department will choose students that will be awarded gallery space in November.
Students can expect many types of art at the exhibition. There will be paintings, drawings, sculptures and many other art forms as well. The department is accepting one to two person entries as well as group proposals. However, the department reports that it will favor the group exhibitions for this year’s gallery.
“The exhibition is a great experience and a great way to gain exposure as an artist and add to a resume that the artist has put on a gallery show,” Leandra Rosencrance, a student at Shepherd, said.
Although the exhibition itself will be held from Nov. 10 through 28, the deadline for student proposals was Oct. 10. Students who have missed the deadline as well as the Shepherdstown community can look forward to the art that the students have to offer.
Questions about this event should be directed to Karen Gergely, an art teacher at the university.
