(The Picket) – Friday, Oct. 28-30 is the last weekend to catch the American Conservation Film Festival, sponsored by Shepherd University and the National Conservation Training Center.
All 10 of the films that won awards during the first weekend of the festival, Oct. 21-23, will be screened again.
Some 30 films celebrating and drawing attention to the environment and ongoing conservation issues were played over the three-day event, with screenings taking place in the Bryd Center for Legislative Studies, Frank Center, Reynolds Hall, and the National Conservation Training Center off campus.
Filmmakers from around the world brought films that ranged in length from a few minutes, to over 90 minutes.
Hundreds of people turned out, with some films accumulating over 100 audience members. Many participants, including students, were able to meet filmmakers, participate in workshops, discuss the issues, and vote for the Audience Choice award.
Kenzie Allen, a Shepherd senior, volunteered to help the event and saw four films.
“The American Conservation Film Festival is an amazing community event,” said Allen.
“The festival gives you the opportunity to question the information the film maker is presenting and encourages you to go home and research and formulate your own opinions.”
You can find the schedule HERE.
Tickets are free for Shepherd Students at all on-campus screenings.
