The Shepherd University volleyball team traveled to Urbana, Ohio over the weekend for a four game tournament. The Rams took charge in the first match but deflated quickly, losing the remaining three matches of the tournament.
Shepherd took on Malone University on Friday, Sept. 16, handing them a defeat in four sets; 17-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-14. Peyton Lindblad led the Rams with 17 kills, followed by Amanda Snowden who recorded 11. Seone Goode made her net presence known with five blocks. Kelsey Anderson had 21 digs for the Rams.
Armstrong State University halted the Rams’ momentum with a loss in three sets; 18-25, 13-25, 15-25. Snowden led the Rams with six kills. Sophie Foster recorded four blocks while Anderson recorded 12 digs.
Shepherd was shut down once more by Urbana University, the host of the tournament, on Saturday. Urbana took the match in three sets; 25-17, 25-19, 27-25. Lindblad had eight kills for the Rams and Kelsey Anderson had nine digs.
The Rams finished off the tournament against Kutztown University. Shepherd took the match to three sets, but was defeated 25-18, 15-25, 25-21, 22-25, 12-15. Jaila Bell led the Rams with 24 kills and 17 digs. Christine Jackson recorded three digs.
The Rams sit with a record of 5-8 overall. They will travel to Glenville State University on Sept. 23 for a 7 p.m. match.
