(THE PICKET)—Shepherd University was defeated at West Virginia Wesleyan on Friday, Nov. 6, with a 3-2 final score. When playing on their home court on Saturday, Nov. 7, the Rams split the day going 1-1. Shepherd beat Bowie State in three sets and lost to Davis & Elkins 3-1.
The Rams forced the fifth game against the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats, but lost 25-14, 26-24, 22-25, 21-25 and 13-15.
Senior outside hitter/libero Samantha Scroggins recorded a 20-20 with 20 kills and 21 blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Amanda Snowden had 11 kills, while freshman middle blocker/right side Sophie Foster recorded 10 kills and five blocks to help the Rams. Freshman setter Cyera Dixon added 47 assists and sophomore libero/defensive specialist Kelsey Anderson recorded 19 digs.
Hannah Moore had 16 kills and 19 digs to pace the Bobcats while Katyln Hoge added 31 digs.
Shepherd swept Bowie State 25-7, 25-16 and 25-16.
Sophomore middle hitter Christine Jackson and Foster each led the Rams with eight kills. Freshman setter Becca Kern had 17 assists, while senior outside hitter/opposite Anna Roper and freshman defensive specialist Allison Crumling each posted seven digs. Crumling also added a match-high seven aces.
Yaje Ngundam led the Bulldogs with 5 kills and 9 digs.
The Rams lost to Davis & Elkins in four sets, 17-25, 20-25, 25-12 and 25-20.
Foster and Scroggins each had nine kills. Jackson added eight kills and five blocks. Dixon posted 24 assists and Anderson recorded 12 digs.
Elizabth Estes record 20 kills and Devin Saucy added 15 for the Senators.
Rams hit the court on Thursday, Nov. 12 when they host UVA-Wise for a 7p.m. match.
