Shepherdstown, W.Va. — Shepherd University (12-1, 1-0 in PSAC East) improved their win streak to 11 matches after defeating Shippensburg in their conference opener at Shepherd on Friday night. The Raiders fought hard to keep sets close, but the Rams prevailed running away with a 25-23, 25-18, 21-25, 25-13 victory.

Junior outside hitters Kitanna (12) and Kiara Rakestraw (10) led the Rams in kills while sophomore setter Victoria Nicholes posted 37 assists to help elevate the Rams. Senior outside hitter/defensive specialist Brooke Dunn totaled a match-high four aces

Senior middle hitter Georgia Ohmke and Junior middle hitter Elyssia Smith each had nine blocks, with Kitanna Rakestraw recording eight, anchoring the Rams defensively. Redshirt freshman defensive specialist/libero Claire Ellis tallied a match-high 21 digs while sophomore outside hitter Mikaylah Hoy posted 20.

Freshman setter Lily Letchworth recorded a double-double with 36 assists & 17 digs while Oyinda Agbale, a junior middle blocker, totaled a match-high 14 kills for the Raiders.  

The Rams will return to action on Friday when they travel to East Stroudsburg taking on the 4-7 Warriors.

Ohmke Honored By PSAC

Senior middle hitter Georgia Ohmke (Falls Church, V.a./Justice) was named PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week in an announcement today by the conference office.

In a 2-0 week for the Rams, Ohmke posted an average of 10 blocks per game. Recording 11 against Fairmont State & 9 against Shippensburg.
