Women’s Lax Start 3-1

The Lady Rams lacrosse team season is underway and is starting off strong with a 3-1 record. The Rams started off the season with a home win against West Virginia Wesleyan then on the road for the next 3.

 

The Rams beat Wesleyan 22-2 five goals which were scored by senior midfielder Nicole Ruane. Sophomore attack midfielder Kelsey Eagan and freshman midfielder Erin Phelan each added four points to the Rams victory.

 

The first road game the Rams once again came out on top with a 21-6 win over Wheeling Jesuit. Nicole Ruane scored six goals, while sophomore attack Georgia Karr and Erin Phelan added four goals. Senior midfielder Krista Tippett , Kelsey Egan, and junior midfielder Jenny Cavey each added two goals along with freshman attack Hunter Morris added one goal.

 

Alderson-Broaddus wasn’t a match for the Rams as they shut AB out 25-0. Nicole Ruane and Kelsey Eagan each scored four goals. Ruane had four assists and Eagan had two. Junior attacker Hanna Wharton and Georgia Karr each added three goals for the Rams as well as two assists from Karr. Sophomore nerminder Lily Schmulowitz had five saves for the Rams. The Rams were up 14-0 at the break as they had a 45-8 shot advantage and a 44-13 control in ground balls.

 

The Rams played a tough game falling to Notre Dame College 13-12. Georgia Karr had a game high of three goals. Erin Phelan, Hanna Wharton, and Hunter Morris all added two goals. Junior midfielder Christina Ferrara, Nicole Ruane, and Jenny Carvey combined for three goals.

 

The game high for assists of two was made byFerrara. Lily Schmulowitz had five saves. At the break the game was tied at 8.

 

The Lady Rams are coached by head coach Meghan Keelan. In 2012 Keelan led the Rams to 11-4 this is the best winning record in school history. Shepherd is ranked fourth nationally in scoring offense 17.40, seventh in draw controls 16.00, 12th in win percentage .733, 14th in scoring margin 4.00, and 12th  in win percentage.

 

The Rams will be home against Lock Haven University March 16th at 1p.m.
