Women’s basketball falls to West Liberty

(THE PICKET)—Rams lost to West Liberty 78-97 on Thursday, making their overall record 2-5.

Sophomore guard Morgan Arden led the Rams with 23 points and five rebounds during her 25 minutes of play. Kristen Nunn, freshman guard, added 18 points and four rebounds.

Junior forward Liz Myers posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Junior guard Cara Mason added 10 points.

The Rams connected on 40 percent (30-75) from the floor with a 40 percent (6-15) effort from three-point range. Shepherd hit on 60 percent of its free throws (12-20). West Liberty hit on 49.3 percent (34-69) of its field goals with a 40.9 percent (9-22) effort from beyond the arc. The West Liberty Hilltoppers were successful on 80 percent (20-25) of their free throws.

West Liberty had a 47-38 upper hand in rebounding. The Rams forced 16 turnovers and committed 11.

The Rams hit the court again on Saturday, Dec. 5, when they travel to Wheeling Jesuit for a game at noon.
