Liz Moorman and the Rams had plenty of reason to celebrate with their performance against UVa-Wise.

The Shepherd University Women’s Basketball Team Leaves a Hot Streak on UVa-Wise

The Shepherd University women’s basketball team came through in the clutch with their win against the top team in the conference, UVa-Wise, battling until the buzzer rang to win 73-66.

Top scorer, Morgan Arden, a junior, topped the board off with 18 points.

Senior Cara Mason added 17 points, while Liz Myers, also a senior, had 16.

Kayla Tibbs, a junior, and freshman Lauren Reed both added six points to the gameplay.

Sophomore, Liz Moorman scored four points.

Senior, Kristina Prange, junior, Tiffany Mckinney, and sophomore Kari Lankford each added two points to the boards.

“They were focusing on the game plan the entire time, they outscored the team 21-12 in the fourth quarter, we just need to stay consistent…,” Coach Jenna Eckleberry said.

“We had a rough time playing [them] last time, we kind of played with a chip on our shoulders,” she said. “We are on a hot streak right now: We have won five out of the last six games we’ve played—we were ready for this game. This is great for us, beating the best team in the conference and knowing we can play with the best.”

Nine more games in this season leaves the team room to leave a hot streak down any gym they play.  The men and women will continue their play on Jan.28th vs. Concord University at Shepherd, 2:00 p.m.
