Shepherd win streak is stopped at 7

In an out-of-conference game against the Shippensburg University Raiders on Tuesday, March 28. The Rams were out hit and out played bringing their season high win streak of seven to a halt.

Shepherd took the lead early when JJ Sarty ripped a double to left center scoring Jacob Carney and giving Shepherd the 1-0 lead. The Raiders would not trail for long striking back in the bottom of the first scoring 4 runs and taking a quick 4-1 lead. The Rams drew to within 2 in the third inning when an error by Raider’s third baseman Ryan McMillen scored Tre Porter making the score 4-2. Shippensburg again battled back scoring two more runs in the bottom of the third giving them a 6-2 lead that would carry them the rest of the game. Shepherd added a run in the fourth and the ninth but the lead was too great to overcome and the Raiders went on to win 7-4.

Sarty led the Rams at the plate in the lose going 2-4 with 2 RBI’s. Jamie Driver fell to 3-3 on the season in the defeat.

Shepherd looks to start a new winning streak on Friday when they travel to UVA Wise for a Friday double header at 1p.m.
