Shepherd University plans to sell alcohol at football games to raise money and expand catering sales, according to Interim Vice President Jack Shaw.
Vendors will be serving beer by the cup at locations separate from ordinary concession stands, Shaw said. “There are responsibilities with serving alcohol, so we keep them separate so the beer vendors can focus on carding,” said Shaw. “Serve where it makes sense.” Shaw anticipates beer costing between $5 to $7 per cup.
No alcohol is served after the end of the third quarter, and campus police will not permit patrons to leave with beer.
Popodicon house also will sell alcohol for special events like weddings, he said, adding another source of revenue for Shepherd.
